SCSI, RAID 1-5, SAS SPECIALIST

Ordigraphie is specialized in the assembly and configuration of SCSI/ SAS and RAID chains.

The SCSI protocol allows you to connect various storage devices (hard disk, backup) and acquisition devices (scanners) to the motherboard at speeds up to 320MB/s, thanks to a specific controller board.

Unlike the IDE protocol, the motherboard is completely discharged from low-level accesses and the peripherals are accessible in parallel.

The performance of the whole can be up to ten times higher than the latest generation IDE.

The latest SAS standard (for Serial Attached SCSI) allows speeds up to 12 Gb/s, or 1500MB/s (equivalent to 5x the fastest maximum SCSI port speed) with SATA harddrives or SSDs and its specific controller.

SCSI or SAS RAID cards add fault tolerance to exceptional performance with redundant drives.

The configuration of RAID systems can be part of the services of Ordigraphie Service:

  • RAID-1 : mirror disks for maximum data protection (one disk breaks, the second remains accessible with all data
  • RAID-5 : set of at least 3 disks with interlaced data (data shared across multiple disks =faster access, if one of the 3 disks breaks, the data can be reconstructed from the other 2)

These technologies are very often present in servers and in the high-performance workstations that we assemble, for the graphic arts for example.
